About Me

My photo
Carol Hedspeth
I'm a born and bred small-town girl who loves to take pictures. I literally grew up in a studio since my father started the business out of our home long before I was born. When I was ten, he finally built the studio that I occupy today and I got my own bedroom in the house (it was the camera room before then). I was a real "Daddy's girl" and followed him through photo shoots, long sessions developing prints in the darkroom, and especially weddings -- my favorite part -- all through my childhood and teen years. I loved my college years at Meredith and UNC-Chapel Hill and worked for 15 years as a public school librarian, but I always kept up the photography on weekends and in the summers. I was fortunate to soak up some of father's wisdom during these years and I've been a full-time photographer now since 1994. I love my work, my wonderful hiking husband, my cats and my friends. I enjoy time at our house on the Outer Banks and I start to experience withdrawal symptons if I don't make it to New York City and some Broadway shows a couple of times a year.
